THUGS CAUGHT ON CAMERA

POLICE on the East Rand are looking for three men in connection with a string of robberies at a computer shop in Edenvale.

POLICE on the East Rand are looking for three men in connection with a string of robberies at a computer shop in Edenvale.

Police spokesperson Geoff de Beer said yesterday that the men had targeted Matrix Computers three times and made off with computers and accessories worth hundreds of thousands of rands.

During the second attack last month, the robbers were captured by the shop's CCTV cameras. They entered the shop pretending to be customers. One of them is seen pointing a firearm at an assistant behind the counter.

"I did not expect anything like that. The guys pretended to be customers. All of a sudden one of them pulled out a firearm and ordered everybody to lie down," said manager Jason Grobler.

"We are undergoing therapy because of that incident.

"After the first incident in April the shop installed CCTV cameras. The robbers returned in August and robbed us again. In the last incident they came at night and broke in.

"They broke the door and removed the steel gate to gain entrance," he said.

De Beer said the police want to question the men.

"There is no warrant of arrest against them. There is no charge. We just want to talk to them," he said. De Beer can be contacted on 082-805-6121.
