The new multi-purpose stadium, which has a capacity of 20000, was built at a cost of R174million by Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela.
It was opened last Saturday when Premiership outfit Platinum Stars beat visiting Botswana soccer giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs 2-1 in a friendly game.
The stadium, which will also serve as a training venue during the 2010 World Cup, will host its first official soccer match today when the Tycoons take on Ajax Cape Town.
Chief Nyalala John Pilane, head of Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela, said it was a momentous occasion.
He added that hosting professional soccer at the facility will help fast-track their development project, which is headed by former Bafana Bafana defender Jacob Tshisevhe.
Stars will use the stadium if the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, which has been upgraded for the World Cup, is unavailable.
