ALL South Africans are welcome to join the nation-building partnership driving the yearly Early Childhood Development awards that are enhancing the campaign to nurture well-rounded future leaders.
Arguably the only thriving vehicle for sustainable development in ECD, the awards partners are SABC Education, the Department of the Education, South African Congress for Early Childhood Development, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, Sowetan, Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation and Absa Foundation.
Through Absa and Sowetan the awards encourage and ensure the professional development of ECD practitioners and the infrastructure development, improvement and support of ECD centres and ECD resources and training organisations.
They are given awards for best resource and training organisations, home-based centre or playgroups, practitioners and community-based centres. An additional award recognising innovative ECD programmes has been introduced.
