ASPIRANT king Inkosi Melizwe Dlamini of the iNhlangwini tribe has rebuked KwaZulu-Natal Premier Zweli Mkhize for his assertion that there will be "no other monarch" in the province.

ASPIRANT king Inkosi Melizwe Dlamini of the iNhlangwini tribe has rebuked KwaZulu-Natal Premier Zweli Mkhize for his assertion that there will be "no other monarch" in the province.

Mkhize made the comment during this year's King Shaka celebrations in KwaDukuza at the weekend.

Mkhize's views come as a political setback but Dlamini's supporters insist they "will not be deterred". T he tribe's application for Dlamini to be accorded the same status as King Goodwill Zwelithini will continue.

Lambasting Mkhize for his comments Dlamini said it "comes as a shock" because the matter is at present with the Moleleki Commission on Traditional Leadership and will be also heard in court.

iNhlangwini spokesperson Gladman Ngubo said Mkhize should remember that the province's traditional leadership act also falls under the national act.
