Skills boost for local business people

ASPIRING rural business people from a Mpumalanga village will for the first time be given the skills to access funding to establish their businesses.

ASPIRING rural business people from a Mpumalanga village will for the first time be given the skills to access funding to establish their businesses.

This will happen today when the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) hosts a small business seminar in the Nkomazi area.

Seda provincial branch manager Gerald Barth said the seminar, to be held at the Mlumati Campus FET College, will host a series of activities that will ensure that business owners have access to the relevant and necessary skills in order to develop and grow their businesses.

"The Nkomazi Small Business Seminar will provide information about small business support and business opportunities to entrepreneurs from all sectors," Barth said.

"For those who are considering starting a small business this event will provide guidance on some of the key decisions involved and a chance to meet key industry stakeholders.

"For those who already have their businesses up and running the event will offer networking opportunities."

One of the objectives of the seminar, Barth said, was to create awareness about business development support that is available for SMME's in the Nkomazi region and promote a culture of entrepreneurship.

The Nkomazi Small Business Seminar will run as a one-day event with a series of topics relevant to new and established entrepreneurs.

An exhibition of various Nkomazi Seda success stories will be presented in conjunction with the seminar.

Among the stakeholders who will attend are the Nkomazi local municipality, Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency, Sars, Mpumalanga Development of Social Development and GCIS.
