BOXING legend Jacob "Baby Jake" Matlala and famed promoter Branco Milenkovic parted company to end one of the most celebrated and envied alliances in local boxing.

Matlala resigned as Branco Sport Promotions (BSP) co-director and left the accomplished stable an angry man.

He feels Milenkovic used him to secure government sponsors for their tournaments - for little reward.

Matlala said the money he got from Milenkovic was nowhere near what he got as a motivational speaker.

"I'm through with BSP," the likeable former five-time world champion told Sowetan yesterday. "I have been taken for a ride for a very long time and I can't take it any more."

Said Milenkovic yesterday: "I've got to respect his decision and I wish him good luck with whatever he does. My door will always be open for him."
