LEGENDARY trumpeter Hugh Masekela has been given another award.

He received a special Labour Media Award at the cultural event of Cosatu's 10th national congress at Gallagher Estate in Midrand on Wednesday night.

The honour was for his song Stimela, which tells a story about migrant workers from neighbouring countries travelling on a coal train to work in South Africa's mines.

"I'm very honoured and humbled. I am also glad that there is still a demand for my music," he said yesterday.

Masekela, who was driving to Durban to play at the International Convention Centre to celebrate his 70th birthday, said the song was a people's favourite.
