MY NAME is Pulane Maake.

I am a 10-year-old girl in Grade 5 at Dominican Belgravia Primary School in Johannesburg and I have been nominated to participate in the People to People World Leadership Forum in Washington DC next year in June.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I will have the opportunity to interact with other kids around from the world. I hope to acquire many empowering skills that I will impart to others in my community. I am a dynamic young leader with a passion for giving back to the community.

"I will appreciate it if you, your company, institution or organisation can assist me with sponsorship of any amount to help me realise this dream. The cost of the programme is R50000. For more details, please speak to my mom, Evelyn Maake, at 011-647-7500, or 082-929-7976, or my primary school head, Dalene Rostovsky, at 011-614-6943."

l Pulane was nominated by her teacher, Kim Dechus, who admires the girl's high academic standing and promising leadership potential.

The People to People Leadership Forum was established by US President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956 and is led by his granddaughter, Mary Jean Eisenhower. It seeks to achieve peace through understanding and to instill in youngsters the spirit of making a difference in their communities by developing their leadership skills.
