TRANSNET yesterday announced the appointment of Nosipho Damasane as its new chief operating officer, effective from October 1.

TRANSNET yesterday announced the appointment of Nosipho Damasane as its new chief operating officer, effective from October 1.

"Damasane is well equipped to assume her new responsibilities and challenges given her business and industry knowledge," said chief executive Tau Morwe.

Damasane, who worked as general manager in sales, logistics and commercial at Transnet, began her career with the parastatal in 1998 as port manager in East London.

The current executive commercial manager, Don Maclean, will be appointed in an acting capacity to the position left vacant by Damasane.

Maclean is a qualified chartered accountant with 11 years' experience in industrial development and project finance.

The outgoing chief operating officer, Solly Letsoalo, has accepted a position in the private sector. - Sapa
