TheMarutleng tribe in Limpopo is expected to meet this weekend to be briefed on developments relating to their land claim, which includes commercial farms in the area.

The community, based in Mabitsi village near Monsterlus in Sekhukhune, submitted its claim to the Land Claims Commission about seven years ago.

Community leader Seraki Madihlaba told Sowetan yesterday that a meeting has been scheduled for Saturday to discuss the claim.

He said the LCC would also be represented at the meeting to brief the community on the developments.

"We urge members of the community to attend this important meeting as it will be crucial for them to know about developments regarding the issue," Madihlaba said.

He said the LCC would inform the Marutleng community about progress relating to the land claim and farm demarcations.

"We will also adopt the community's constitution and discuss other issues pertaining to laws governing the community," he said.

The community executive committee will also be introduced and its term of office decided.

He said the final registration of farm owners and co-owners would also be conducted at the meeting.
