Holding the annual ceremony in this province is significant because it will be the first time that the official event takes place in the country's northern-most province.
It is also significant because it will take place in an area with high poverty, a fact that will hopefully draw official attention at the festivities of Heritage Day on Thursday.
Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is expected to deliver his keynote address at the National Heritage Day Celebrations at the Ntwampe Sports Grounds, Moroke, in the Greater Tubatse municipality.
He will be accompanied by Minister of Arts and Culture Lulu Xingwana, Premier Cassel Mathale and top government officials.
"In order to highlight the role of the craft industry in the socio-economic development of our nation, this year's chosen theme for heritage month is Celebrating South African Craft, Our Heritage," said the Department of Arts and Culture.
"The theme presents us with an opportunity to pay tribute to the craft people who have contributed immensely to the development of South Africa's rich heritage."
As a build-up to the Heritage Day event, Xingwana will host an official gala dinner, where the arts and culture department and Old Mutual Foundation will sign a memorandum of understanding tomorrow.
Under the memorandum, craft workers will be supported in the form of business training, leadership development, business systems development and market access, the department revealed this week.
On Thursday the programme will begin with a cleansing ceremony at Tjate Heritage site in Sekhukhune before Motlanthe addresses the nation.
