Gauteng champions Palace Super Falcons will play Botswana team Double Action FC in the Palace Cup on Saturday - their first competitive match since the national championships last month.

By their own standards Falcons, one of the country's oldest women's teams, had a disappointing tournament in the inaugural Sasol League, having been kicked out in the semifinals of the championships.

Falcons boast players such as Banyana Banyana's Hlengiwe Ngwane, Mamello Makhabane and Refilwe Koloba and were the last team Portia Modise played for before she left to play in Denmark.

Felicity Dire, Falcons' spokesperson, said the match was not a new concept, having been named the Palace Engineering Cup before.

"It was actually just played within the provincial league but we stopped for about three years," Dire said.

"We have renamed it Palace Cup now and once again it will be a yearly event."

Double Action are a prominent side in Botswana, with eight of their players featuring consistently in that country's national team.

The match takes place at Centurion Supersport Park at 3pm.
