HEKKIE Budler, the man who breeds pythons as a hobby, will don boxing gloves on September 29 at Emperors Palace to raise funds for penniless Thulani "Sugarboy" Malinga.

The former pugilist from Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal is the first South African ever to win WBC belt.

The former SA middle, super middle and WBF light heavy weight title holder made a killing financially during his career but misfortune struck - his mansion burned down to ashes .

It is for this reason that promoters Rodney Berman and Jeff Ellis, a former boxing mentor who once trained Malinga, have decided to present a box-and-dine tournament to raise funds for this 54-year-old former fighter.

Fifty tables of 10 sell from R300 to R4000. Ellis said some boxing memorabilia will also be auctioned off during the tourney.

Topping that bill is "Hexecutioner" Budler in the first defence of his IBO Africa junior flyweight belt against Doctor Ntsele.
