SLAIN police Inspector Bachipile Andrew Rapeta was finally laid to rest at the Mabopane cemetery on Saturday.

Rapeta, 49, of Lebanon in Mabopane, went missing on the night of July 2 on his way home from work. His partially decomposed body was found by a cattleherd in Zone 4, GaRankuwa, last Sunday. He was based at the GaRankuwa police station at the time of his death.

His funeral service was held at the Mabopane indoor sports hall. He was described as a hero who dedicated his life to serving and protecting the people of this country.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Perumal Naidoo promised the family that Rapeta's killers would be brought to book. No one has so far been arrested for his death.
