THE ANC Youth League has thrown its weight behind Eskom chief executive Jacob Maroga, saying its funding woes were not his fault but that of the former government of Thabo Mbeki.

The league said removing Maroga would play into the hands of "white racists on the Eskom board who want to displace him for ulterior motives".

Cosatu and the Young Communist League have slammed Maroga's R4,96million salary, calling it a slap in the face of consumers.
