Gay and Powell to line up in Shanghai

BEIJING - Former world champion Tyson Gay and former world record holder Asafa Powell will compete in the 100m at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix this weekend, organisers said yesterday.

Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang will also run, softening the blow of the absence of Usain Bolt, the triple Olympic and world champion and world record holder who pulled out because of fatigue. American Gay and Jamaican Powell finished second and third behind Bolt in the 100m final at last month's world championships.

The two will then run on September 25 in South Korea's Daegu, the host city of the 2011 world championships. - Reuters
