Police plea to public over hunt for gang

JOHANNESBURG police have appealed to the public to help them re-arrest the notorious "Razor Gang", but have warned people not to confront the men since they are dangerous.

JOHANNESBURG police have appealed to the public to help them re-arrest the notorious "Razor Gang", but have warned people not to confront the men since they are dangerous.

"We advise members of the public not to confront the four suspects because they are armed and dangerous.

"Anyone who knows their whereabouts should rather contact investigating officer Detective-Inspector Jones Baloyi on 083-514-0641," Gauteng police spokesperson Inspector Sanku Tsunke said yesterday.

He said Sandton detectives have been looking for the four men since they escaped from the Wynberg magistrate's court in Alexandra on Thursday last week.

The men have been involved in various criminal activities in and around the Sandton area.

The name "Razor Gang" stems from the nickname of ring-leader Raymond "Razor" Zulu, who also escaped.

The other three men are Sibusiso Mashinini, Sifiso Kelly Manyoni and Elvis Mabuza.

The five other men who had escaped with these men have since been re-arrested.

"All the four suspects are still at large and a manhunt has been launched for them," said Tsunke.
