Jazz artist Mimi Mthenjwa will make South Africa proud on Heritage Day, September 24, when she performs in the island of Fiji.

Mimi, pictured, as she is popularly known in jazz circles, has been invited to perform there by the South African embassy in that country.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday the jazz artist, who is currently enjoying public approval for her debut album Essence of My Soul, said she was excited and was looking forward to the performance.

"Even though I have performed abroad in countries such as Germany, Italy, France and the US in the past, I have never performed in Fiji before, and I have also never performed with my own band," she said. "I hope this opportunity will open even more opportunities for me to perform internationally in the future. I am so excited."
