SHARKS' coach John Plumtree has attributed his team's hard-earned 29-23 victory over Blue Bulls in an Absa Currie Cup match at Loftus in Pretoria on Saturday to sheer dedication of his players.
The visitors were 6-12 behind at the break .
Plumtree said after the game that their chances of a home semifinal looked certain.
Said Plumtree: "At the break I told my players that they must pep-up their performance and believe in themselves and the rest will follow.
"They did that with distinction and ultimately turned things around to emerge victorious.
"This win has raised the team's ambition of defending the title for the second time in a row and the boys have vowed to do that."
His counterpart Frans Ludeke said he was very disappointed his players threw away points but he expected them to work harder in the next game.
"There is no crisis yet, there are still four more games to play before the end of the season," he saiid.
This defeat saw the Pretoria outfit slipping to fifth position on the log after three consecutive losses.
All credit should go to Sharks flyhalf Juan Hernandez, who turned in an excellent performance and scored all the points for his team bar a try by Jacques Botes.
He scored 24 points - a try, two penalties, two conversions and a drop goal.
The Bulls' points came through Werner Kruger (try), Burton Francis and Francois Hougaard scored four and two penalties respectively.
Other results: Cheetahs 33, Western Province 31; Lions 31, Leopards 13; Griquas 31, Boland 16.
