THE construction of a multi-million rand shopping complex is hoped to create jobs and stimulate the local economy.

The Great North Mall is being built on the way to Modjadjiskloof in Limpopo.

Premier Cassel Mathale told the national council of provinces that the R1,2billion mall, scheduled to be completed in April 2011, would create no less than 1500 permanent jobs and 2000 temporary jobs for local people.

Construction started in March and is expected to be completed before the end of April 2011.

Mathale said young men and women around the province with skills in the construction field would be involved in the project.

He said on completion the mall will have helped to stimulate the province's economy and many unemployed people would have jobs to care for their families. - Alex Matlala
