THREE people, including the son of a leading Polokwane businessman, have been arrested in connection with the killing of a pensioner.

Mailusa Makgoba, 67, of Tshware village at GaMamabolo, disappeared mysteriously from his home on September 2. He was reported missing the following day by concerned neighbours.

His body was later found in a shallow grave.

Police searched for him but could not find him. They arrested a man, who allegedly had information on the missing man's whereabouts.

Mankweng police spokesperson Inspector Malan Nchabeleng said after interrogations the man fingered another suspect in the crime.

Nchabeleng said the two led the police to a shallow grave in which they had allegedly buried the old man.

"We have established that the man was staying alone at his house in Tshware village in GaMamabolo," Nchabeleng said.

Nchabeleng said the two also implicated a third suspect, whom police arrested on Wednesday night.

"We are investigating circumstances that might have led to the killing of the man," he said

He said the motive was still unknown.

The arrested men have been charged with kidnapping and will appear in court soon.
