THE standoff between the manager of the Blouberg local municipality in Limpopo, Ike Makhura and his employers, is temporarily over.
This, after he was shown the door yesterday when he was sent on two months special leave.
This was decided during a special council sitting in the municipal chambers.
The decision to send Makhura on special leave follows several unsuccessful attempts to suspend him following irreconcilable differences between him and ANC councillors.
He is being accused of bringing the council into disrepute over R300 million fruitless expenditure and failing to account for R32 million. He allegedly failed to honour the summons by the Limpopo legislature to appear before the legislature to answer to allegations levelled against him.
