FORMER North West transport MEC Phenye Vilakazi yesterday appealed to the taxi industry not to take the law into its own hands at an emotional memorial service of slain taxi operator Mthuthuzeli Molefe in Evaton, Vaal.

Vilakazi also assured mourners that police were hot on the heels of the killers.

"We know the majority in the taxi industry has turned their back on violence. No stone shall be left unturned to bring Molefe's killers to book. We will look for them until we find them. Let us refrain from violence for the sake of Molefe," Vilakazi said.

Molefe will be buried on Sunday. The funeral service will be held at McCallum Temple Church in Evaton from 9am. The cortege will leave at 11am for Evaton cemetery.
