JASON "The Batman" Bederman should conquer Grant "The Fireball" Fourie at Emperors Palace tomorrow night and be crowned the IBO Africa lightweight champion. This belt is vacant.

JASON "The Batman" Bederman should conquer Grant "The Fireball" Fourie at Emperors Palace tomorrow night and be crowned the IBO Africa lightweight champion. This belt is vacant.

These twinkling stars have done well since they turned professional in 2007 and 2008, respectively. They are both undefeated - Bederman after 10 fights and Fourie after eight.

Their knockout ratios suggestthey are evenly matched, power-wise.

Bederman has one flash knockout win, while Fourie still has to knock an opponent cold.

Fourie has superior skills but lacks patience against stubborn opponents.

On the other hand Bederman has a big heart and is dauntless. He has fought very strong opponents from the day he made his professional debut.

One such opponent was the tough-as-nails Joe Modise, but Bederman weathered the storm and held his own.

He was just unfortunate that their bloody six-rounder in July was declared a draw.

This writer anticipates an epic battle.

Bederman, whose skills are honed by Manny Fernandez, should win on a stoppage in the later rounds.

Fourie, who is trained by Colin Nathan, has a tendency to slow down as the fight progresses.

Meanwhile, the main bout in this Golden Gloves "Night of the Gladiators" bill between IBO junior lightweight holder Zolani Marali and Ji Hoon Kim from South Korea should also end within the distance.

Marali is a star in the making, while Kim seems to be still wet behind the ears. But it will depend on which Marali turns up.

Thomas Oosthuizen should walk past Cleber Alves for the IBO super middleweight youth belt.

Brazilians may be great footballers but they are poor boxers.

Bones could crack in the local shootout between Ruben Groenewald and Ronnie Lategan over eight rounds. The action starts at 8pm and SuperSport will televise all these fights live.
