A QUICK reaction led to the arrest of a metro police officer and a former SAPS officer who were allegedly trying to hijack a car in Meyerton, Vaal, yesterday.
It is alleged that the two attempted to hijack a Mercedes Benz panel van loaded with cigarettes. The two, who were on uniform, had signalled the van to stop along the R42 near Meyerton.
But when the driver stopped, he became suspicious that he was about to be hijacked. A scuffle broke out, and police who were on patrol nearby went to inquire.
