A GOVERNMENT official in Limpopo has been accused of demanding sexual favours from young women aspiring to become nurses before awarding them study bursaries.

The official works in the department of healthin Botlokwa. A damning dossier leaked to Sowetan this week said the official's task was to identify youths from poor families for bursaries. But the man allegedly demanded sexual favours from desperate youths.

One of the victims, Makelle Seshibe, pictured, from Mphakane, said: "Once he realised I wanted to pursue a nursing career through the state bursary, he started proposing to me. But I did not have feelings for him, and so I lost out."

The official has, however, denied the allegations.
