Nongqayi, Durandt delayed by in-transit arrest

BOXING trainer Nick Durandt and his fighter Simphiwe "Golden Master" Nongqayi were arrested in Germany yesterday and spent close to seven hours behind bars for entering that country without visas.

BOXING trainer Nick Durandt and his fighter Simphiwe "Golden Master" Nongqayi were arrested in Germany yesterday and spent close to seven hours behind bars for entering that country without visas.

Nongqayi and Durandt were catching a connecting flight to Brazil, from where they will catch another flight to Mexico, where Nongqayi will challenge Mexican Jorge Arce for the vacant IBF world junior bantamweight crown at Cancun in Quintana next Tuesday.

Nongqayi and Durandt left the country on Tuesday for Germany, from where they were expecting to catch a connecting flight to Brazil.

The authorities bundled them behind bars when they could not produce visas. They were released after verification that they were in transit. - Sapa
