The conman targeted desperate and unsuspecting job seekers and asked them to deposit R3000 into his bank account as a guarantee for jobs at Telkom.
The victims who spoke to Sowetan said they were promised good jobs at Telkom branches in Polokwane, Tzaneen, Kgapane and Phalaborwa.
After they had deposited the money, they were told to visit a certain office in Polokwane which turned out to be a bogus recruitment agency.
The office was opened only when the conman's victims came in.
Some victims said last week that they were misled to go and wait at Telkom offices in Kgapane and Tzaneen but he did not show up.
They said it had been difficult for them to get a refund after they discovered that they had fallen prey to the conman.
The suspect, identified as Kgaugelo Elvis Sethe, allegedly lives at two different residential addresses.
He has two bank accounts - one at Absa and the other at the post office.
He would change banking details every time he realised the victims had started to suspect his scam.
Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba warned people not to pay anybody who claimed to be offering jobs .
He said victims should report their cases to local police stations.
