Albinism society mourns Ngwenya

TONY Ngwenya, the man synonymous with the Albinism Society of Southern Africa's campaigns in South Africa and beyond, has succumbed to the debilitating effects of diabetes, epilepsy and hypertension .

Ngwenya, who was Assa's CEO, died on Tuesday.

Ngwenya, pictured, and his sister, Nomasonto Mazibuko, were tireless crusaders for the quashing of superstitions and misinformation about albinism.

One of Assa's most prominent advocacy campaigns is the National Schools Essay Competition that the society has ran in association with Sowetan and Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation among others.
