The villagers, from Bolobedu near Modjadjiskloof, demand that the Greater Letaba municipality constructs a bridge over the dangerous Molototsi River.
Communities from Sekgothi, Mabulana, Tatja and Boshakge villages accuse the municipality of making false promises after failing to begin with the construction of the bridge.
They say the river poses a danger to their lives when they attempt to cross it after heavy rainfalls.
Spokesperson for the communities Thabo Mafahlela said the municipality had been making empty promises since 2004, and had failed to take their concerns seriously.
"We are planning to disrupt schools in the four villages on Thursday (tomorrow) should the municipality fail to come up with a positive response to the challenges faced by communities," Mafahlela said.
According to him, the four villages become islands on rainy days because of the overflowing river. The villagers are also unable to get to the main road to catch taxis and buses to Tzaneen and Modjadjiskloof towns.
He said the communities would march to the council's offices tomorrow.
Municipal spokesperson Vyida Rakubu said the matter would be investigated to establish what had caused the delay in the construction of the bridge.
