THE MINISTER of Health Aaron Motsoaledi, together with Limpopo MEC for health and social development Miriam Segabutla, launched the National Child Health Week campaign on Monday in Giyani.
The campaign is part of the health department's efforts to reduce the mortality rate of children under the age of five from diseases such as measles.
Motsoaledi said the week-long campaign was intended for children in rural areas and informal settlements who had missed out on crucial immunisation programmes.
He also said during the campaign the department would raise awareness about the importance of key child health interventions and the need to have children get their Vitamin A doses and de-worming every six months until they reached the age of five.
After the launch, Motsoaledi and Segabutla took part in de-worming and providing vitamin A supplements to children.
