This after the Free Staters produced a sparkling performance to overwhelm the gutsy Lions 20-16 in a tough battle in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
It was the Cheetahs' fifth victory in succession in the competition after they started the season on an uninspiring note, losing four matches on the trot.
Drotske was full of praise for his side's back-to-back consistent showing of late.
"Everything is now on track and I am satisfied that at long last the guys have found their missing spark in front of goals," said Drotske
"We are now focussing on another tough assignment against the Western Province at home on Saturday and hope to continue with the winning ways," he added.
The Cheetahs are lying fifth on the log with 26 points, two points ahead of the sixth-placed the Lions and both have played nine games apiece.
On the other side, the Lions chances to make the play-offs are gradually diminishing following their 13-20 defeat by Western Province in Cape Town a fortnight ago.
The Cheetahs dominated the first half possession and territory and had the better of the line-outs.
l Meanwhile, the defending champions the Sharks reclaimed the top spot in the competition after thrashing winless Boland 48-3 in Wellington.
l In a closely fought encounter, the Griquas scored a 34-33 victory over the Leopards in Potchefstroom.
l At Newlands Stadium, the Western Province continued their dominance once more over the Blue Bulls with a convincing 25-19 win.
