HONG KONG - At least nine city residents were injured when two people threw acid on pedestrians on a busy Hong Kong street yesterday.

One woman was seen covered in bandages as paramedics led her and other injured persons from the scene, according to witnesses.

One man was later arrested in connection with the attack.

Police claimed the incident was "not linked" to cases earlier this year, also in Hong Kong, when acid was thrown at random on crowds of shoppers from high-rise buildings. - Sapa-DPA
