Commenting on why most of the AmaZulu squad and coaching staff did not attend player Jan Sillo's funeral on August 23, Dlamini claimed it was because the cellphone company refused to postpone the MTN8 second-leg semifinal against Golden Arrows.
He also claimed that the club had asked that the match be postponed but that the PSL turned this down, giving the reason as that the sponsors would not allow this.
"The above claims are certainly not true," said PSL general manager: football, Andile "Ace" Ncobo.
"The utterances from Mr Dlamini are viewed in a serious light by the league and our partners, the sponsors of the competition, and we immediately took the matter up with the club."
AmaZulu have since written an apology to the league and the sponsor.
It reads as follows: "It is with deepest regret that the above issue has arisen. We do, as a club, understand that the inaccurate statements made in the media have negatively affected both the PSL and MTN as a sponsor.
"We as a club would like to retract all statements made in the media about us having requested the fixture to be moved. This is incorrect. The club did not approach the league or MTN to move this fixture. We were willing to honour this fixture."
The apology was accepted.
