A 59-YEAR-OLD woman has been discovered in a shallow grave in Ndaleni village in Richmond in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
Octavia Ngcongo was found in a forest with multiple stab wounds to the chest and bruises to the head on Monday. She had gone missing on Sunday night.
Ngcongo was last seen walking with three men, one of whom is believed to have been her husband.
The four allegedly attended a traditional ceremony and were attacked while on their way back home on Sunday night.
Police spokesperson Joey Jeevan said the group was walking along a dark forest towards their homes when they were attacked.
"Four unknown suspects armed with sticks attacked the victims, forcing them to flee in different directions,Jeevan said.
"Ngcongo did not return home and the matter was reported to a local traditional councillor."
Jeevan said the men went to the area the next day and Ngcongo's mutilated body was found buried in a shallow grave. Two men aged between 42 and 46 have been taken in for questioning.
Police suspect the victim might have been raped. They also appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact Inspector Bonginkosi Ngcobo on 033-212-9455 or 083-477-6690.
Meanwhile police have arrested two men linked to the housebreaking on the farm Hallington in Richmond.
It's alleged that farm owner Peter Clerence, 54, was away. When he returned he found his house ransacked and his firearms missing.
Two suspects were found in possession of three firearms, a Norinco pistol, double-barrel shotgun, .22 rifle and ammunition. The men are expected to appear in court soon.
