The ANC will deploy its heavyweights to KwaZulu-Natal this weekend to convene general councils in all regions to conduct an assessment of service delivery.

In assessing levels of delivery the heavyweights, including Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, national chairperson Baleka Mbete, Tokyo Sexwale, Nomvula Mokonyane, Valli Moosa, Sphiwe Nyanda, Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya, Mnyamezeli Booi, Zweli Mkhize, Makhenkesi Stofile and others will visit various districts .

ANC provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said the convening of the regional general councils arises from the ruling party's programme that seeks to strengthen service delivery in the country.

"As the ANC we welcome the visit since we have to analyse our weaknesses and come up with concrete proposals to improve our performance in all our municipalities ahead of the 2011 local government elections," Zikalala said.
