JAMES Gibb has been appointed acting deputy director-general for the 2010 World Cup in Mpumalanga.

JAMES Gibb has been appointed acting deputy director-general for the 2010 World Cup in Mpumalanga.

"He is the acting deputy director-general until a new deputy director-general is found at a later stage," said Janine Jules, Mpumalanga provincial spokesperson for 2010.

Gibb was working in the office of the Mpumalanga premier as deputy director-general. Jules said the deputy director-general's post was advertised and applications were received.

"The new candidates will be formally announced soon, though I can't exactly say when. We are busy with short-listing and as soon it's finalised the public will be informed," she said.

The position became vacant in June when former deputy director-general Desmond Golding resigned.
