SUNDOWNS signed Innocent Mdledle on the transfer deadline day yesterday and dumped former Bafana Bafana forward Sibusiso "Rhee" Zuma.

The Bafana Bafana left-back has been bought outright from Orlando Pirates after he apparently had a fallout with coach Ruud Krol. The acquisition of Mdledle was confirmed by Sundowns publicist Alex Shakoane last night.

"The boy now officially belongs to us and we are excited to have a player of his stature," said Shakoane who declined to reveal how much money changed hands for Mdledle.

He also said that they had amicably parted company with Zuma yesterday.

Hailed as a saviour when he moved to Chloorkop last season, Zuma yesterday suffered the ignominy of a terminated contract.

"The contract was for two years but Sundowns were no longer keen to keep him. They informed me about their decision and we had an agreement to that effect," Zuma's agent Glyn Binkin told Sowetan yesterday.

Asked where Zuma was heading, Binkin said he had not decided.

"But one thing is for sure I'm not going to sit and do nothing to get him a new club."

There was euphoria when Zuma joined Downs from German side Arminia Bielefeld as part of club president Patrice Motsepe's open-chequebook policy but his stay at Chloorkop was blighted by injuries.

The termination of his contract was imminent after Sundowns recently placed him on the transfer list with Collins Mbesuma, Lungisani Ndlela and Thando Mngomeni. Mbesuma and Ndlela have since joined Moroka Swallows, while Mngomeni is now with Wits.

Binkin also revealed that SuperSport United have terminated George Maluleke's contract. He is said to be on the brink of joining Ajax Cape Town. Meanwhile, Wits has signed goalkeeper Francis Chansa in a one-year deal.
