Zuma was speaking during the opening of 250 houses at Davhana village in Makhado, Limpopo, where he handed over a house to former farmworker Emily Murema, who was living in a mud house.
He said the housing programme was changing the lives of millions of people who were condemned to poverty and could not afford to build their own houses .
Though several houses around the province were left incomplete by contractors, Zuma praised the province for its provision of housing.
He said Limpopo was ahead of other provinces in delivering houses and appealed to the provincial government to keep up the efforts it had put in housing projects.
Zuma also met traditional leader David Davhana, who appealed to the government to build a school and other infrastructure to kick-start job creation.
He said he appreciated the houses that had been built for his people.
Zuma accepted the request as a guideline from the community as to what their priorities were and said this would help the government to draw up its service delivery plan.
He then proceeded to Giyani, where he launched an electricity project.
