Fireworks from Langa and pals

A CONCOCTION of maskandi, marabi and gospel is on offer at the Hillbrow Theatre this Friday.

A CONCOCTION of maskandi, marabi and gospel is on offer at the Hillbrow Theatre this Friday.

Dubbed the Thokozani Langa and Friends Live Show and hailed as the biggest live show by the organisers, they are promising fireworks when the maskandi genius is joined on stage by Zimbabwean Jeys Marabini and Amakholwa Amahle .

The organiser, Dominic Ndlovu, guarantees the show will be fun throughout and will lift troubled souls who need healing.

"Amakholwa Amahle's gospel touch will heal unhappy souls," Ndlovu says.

"This very energetic group will definitely leave people dazed. Expect fireworks."

Marabini, whose marabi music is fused with jazz, is expected to collaborate with Nana Coyote on three songs.

"There are lots of people who are going through a difficult time and this show is especially for them to enjoy themselves. Langa's performance is going to be mouthwatering, that's a guarantee," Ndlovu vows.

Award-winning Langa, pictured, whose music is a blend of maskandi, mbaqanga and mgxhobanyawo with a touch of gospel, is expected to sing most of his favourite songs such as Wa Wuthini, the title track of one his bestselling albums,

His hugely popular album Phuma Kimi earned him the Best Mgxhobanyawo Album at the 14th South African Music Awards in 2007.

The album exceeded platinum status, making Langa one of the most sought after traditional artists.

Another award-winning artist, Marabini, born Majahawodwa Ndlovu, is expected to showcase his recently released album Izenzo.

He once described this 11-track album as one of the best he has ever produced. The album features Coyote on four tracks.

Tickets will be sold at the door on the night.
