Womenin South Africa should stand up and cheer two Eastern Cape female star fighters, Noni Tenge and Unathi Myekeni, for their five-star representation at the weekend.

This is how promoter S'Phatho Handi, who staged their defence fights for WBF International welterweight and featherweight belts, feels. "They represented women with aplomb," he said.

Tenge stopped Yinka Adeoti in the eighth-round while Myekeni outpointed Helen Joseph over 10 rounds at East London's Orient Theatre, on Friday.

In other two women fights, Queen Tshabalala outpointed Bomikazi Klaas over 10 rounds for the SA super middleweight belt, while Ester Mashiya won the national middleweight strap via a third-round-stoppage of Rita Mrwebi who dislocated her shoulder.

The main bout was in the men section between WBF bantamweight holder Lubabalo "Fireblows" Msuthu who retained his belt on points against Kenyan Nicky Otieno.

But Handi said Tenge stole the show.

Meanwhile, Themba "Dynamite" Joyi punched his way to the IBO junior bantamweight title fight by outclassing Miniyakhe Sityata to defend the SA belt.

Handi said IBO president, US-based Edward Levine, and Len Hunt, IBO vice president in Africa, promised that sweet victory for Joyi against Sityata will earn him a crack at the vacant IBO strap which was forfeited by Zolile Mbityi two months ago due to inactivity.
