Loss of life in Limpopo accidents

THE Limpopo department of roads and transport said yesterday it had recorded 19 accidents involving defective minibus taxis last month.

THE Limpopo department of roads and transport said yesterday it had recorded 19 accidents involving defective minibus taxis last month.

Spokesperson Boiki Tsedu said 15 of the taxi drivers were killed and 42 passengers lost their lives.

The routes mostly affected were the R37 between Burgersfort and Polokwane, the R71 between Polokwane and Tzaneen, the N1 north between Polokwane and Louis Trichardt, and the N11 between Roedtan and Lephalale.

Twelve pedestrians were knocked down by taxis. - Frank Maponya
