ILLEGAL sale of STANDS ON HOLD

THE Pretoria property developer who was accused of fraudulently selling stands on the Hartebeestspruit farm outside Cullinan has stopped and promised to refund those who have paid for the plots.

THE Pretoria property developer who was accused of fraudulently selling stands on the Hartebeestspruit farm outside Cullinan has stopped and promised to refund those who have paid for the plots.

Ronald Letswalo, of Biz Hub 300 Properties, was at loggerheads with the Nokeng Tsa Taemane local municipality in Cullinan over the illegal sale of stands in its area.

Letswalo, who has been adamant that he did nothing wrong, yesterday said: "We have stopped selling the stands. We also appeal to the people to come to our office with proof of purchase and their bank account numbers for refunds."

He also apologised to the Nokeng Tsa Taemane municipality, saying "as a company we want to comply with by-laws".

The 320m2 stands were sold from early this month for R1500, R2500 and R3000, depending on their location.

Municipal workers demolished the first shack erected on an illegally sold stands on Tuesday and immediately stopped a group of about 20 people from erecting more shacks.

Nokeng Tsa Taemane municipality spokesperson Phalane Motale yesterday said the municipality had decided to be more vigilant because of rumours that people would invade the farm at the weekend .

It has since emerged that Hartebeestspruit forms part of the four farms being claimed by the Moloto community under Kgosi Kgabo Moloto III. This claim was recorded in the Government Gazette of August 27 2004.

According to the claimants' lawyer, Thokwane Moloto, it was gazetted that from that date no improvements would take place on the affected properties without the consent of the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.

He said the giant Moloto Big Tree Mall on Hartebeestspruit was not affected by the order since it was built before the claim was gazetted.
