THE South African Social Security Agency in North West has suspended an official accused of defrauding a social grant beneficiary of R6000.

THE South African Social Security Agency in North West has suspended an official accused of defrauding a social grant beneficiary of R6000.

"The official was suspended from work on Tuesday," senior manager for marketing and communications Smanga Selemeni said yesterday.

The official was placed on suspension on allegations of grant fraud pending the finalisation of the investigation.

"Once investigations are completed the official will face an internal disciplinary processes," Selemeni said.

"The disciplinary processes will run parallel to criminal charges laid against the suspected official by the police." - Sapa
