SEVEN students from the Taletso Further Education and Training College in Mmabatho were arrested during a protest that became violent yesterday.

"In the morning about 500 students from the college barricaded a road and broke windows at the school," said Captain Job Mothibi of North West police. "Police fired rubber bullets to disperse them."

Seven students were arrested and will face charges of public violence and damage to property in the Mmabatho magistrate's court.

The students were protesting against shortages of teachers at the college.

The situation was back to normal later yesterday, Mothibi said. - Sapa
