KING Ramathe of World Sports Promotions failed in his bid to get the South Gauteng high court to overturn Boxing SA's decision to revoke his promoter's licence last month.
It had accused him of failing to pay WBF sanctioning fees and officials for his tournament at Graceland Casino in Mpumalanga on March 20.
The main attraction was the WBF featherweight title fight between Takalani Ndlovu and Oscar Chauke, which Ndlovu won.
The high court hearing took place yesterday. Ramathe appealed for his licence to be returned urgently after he returned a television date for a tournament on September 4.
Ramathe co-owns World Sport Promotions with Mikiro Ramphenyane, Thabang Segooa and Eric Strydom. Regarding his alleged debt, Ramathe said: "We owe sanctioning fees. The one (claim) that I owe officials is nonsense. We had a relationship with the WBF, not individuals."
"The cancellation of his licence stays," said Boxing SA's acting chief executive Loyiso Mtya.
"His actions brought boxing into disrepute."
