Pirates are determined to stamp their authority not just on the Birds, but also on the league early this season.
Bucs spokesperson Mickey Modisane, said his side had no pity for the "wounded people" that the Buccaneers face tonight.
"We realise Swallows are wounded after losing to rookies Mpumalanga Black Aces (2-1) last week, but we have little mercy or sympathy for their plight.
"For Pirates this is a must-win match and would set the tone for our championship challenge."
Coach Rudi Krol might give Terror Fanteni a run.
The Birds will use this Soweto derby as the official opening of their new Dobsonville home ground.
Said Birds assistant coach Zeca Marques: "We need to get stuck in and rise to the occasion. They do not come much bigger than playing Pirates in Soweto."
In another league match tonight, Jomo Cosmos have vowed to sharpen their target shooting skills at the expense of Mpumalanga Black Aces at Rand Stadium.
Team manager Andrew Rabutla said Cosmos' recent defeat by Lamontville Golden Arrows was a result of poor finishing.
"Since we returned from Durban we worked hard on target shooting. Our coach Jomo Sono is happy with the boys and we are looking forward to good results. He is very impressed with the high standard displayed during training," Rabutla said yesterday.
Cosmos will welcome back Bamuza "Scara" Sono who missed out the Arrows match last week.
Aces have capable players in Gilbert Mushangazhike, Nathi Ogle, Teboho Mokoena, Godfrey Nobula and Shere Lekgothoane to ensure that they collect the maximum points. - Sapa
