HAIL Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mnqithi! The youngest coach in the PSL has steered Golden Arrows to their first cup final berth.

When Mnqithi's exciting combination outplayed AmaZulu 2-0 at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday, they also romped to a 4-1 aggregate victory in the MTN8 semifinal.

Goals on Saturday night were scored by Joseph Musonda and Njabulo Manqana.

Mnqithi, 37, has proved that success can only be achieved when you believe in your players. Year in and year out, when PSL coaches rushed to the market to sign new players, Mnqithi would mould raw and unknown players from townships and make them household names. He should be bragging from the rooftops.

"We are taking each game as it comes, and we are not thinking about the final. We still have many games to play before the final, so it would be suicidal to think of winning the final. We can't be complacent now that we have reached the final," he said.

Abafana Bes'thende were not going to lo se on the night. Holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg Arrows continued from their previous meeting with Usuthu, by scoring two first-half goals that effectively put the contest beyond their neighbours.

Playing at home, and with their goal poacher Richard Henyekane making his return, Arrows were in mean mood as they pierced the heart of the AmaZulu faithful when Henyekane's freekick was deflected into the goal by an unmarked Musonda to make the score 1-0.

Usuthu were not mere spectators as they also made inroads searching for goals, but their strikers failed to convert chances created.

In the 30th minute Manqana fired home a cracking drive from 25 metres out that beat Nicolas Gindre in the AmaZulu goal hands down.

The second half was a dingdong battle, but Usuthu supporters must have been devastated when striker Bradley Ritson failed to convert a sitter. Some supporters started leaving the stadium soon thereafter as they realised it was not going to be.
