A TAXI driver was seriously injured yesterday when his vehicle crashed into a light pole in Durban.

ER24 paramedics spokesperson Derrick Banks said the accident happened on the corner of Stanger and Ordinance streets at about 5.30am.

"When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene they found a taxi had collided with a light pole, with the driver still trapped," said Banks.

"Advanced life support intervention had to be performed before the fire department could use the jaws of life to extricate the man from the vehicle."
