A HIKER was evacuated on a lifeguards' jet-ski after breaking a leg on a trail in the Umtamvuna River Gorge, the National Sea Rescue Institute said yesterday .

Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon at the Gorge west of Port Edward in KwaZulu-Natal.

He said Promise Shusha, 26, broke her right tibia after apparently slipping on wet rocks while hiking with her husband and two friends on the popular trail.

She was rescued and taken to hospital. - Sapa
